France 2013

We left Vancouver on sunny March 8 and arrived in Amsterdam near noon on the 9th to rain. The KLM flight was good but the seats in coach were so close together that we could not stand up straight when we wanted to go for a walk. Needless to say we were too cramped to sleep on the plane so we were happy to check into the Sheridan at the airport and have a nap. After that we took a walk around the airport to see all the shops. There is even a big grocery store there. We also found the check-in desk where we can pick up our keys for the apartment in Amsterdam when we return on April 22.

April 10 we were off to Nice, Richard, our driver picked us up and delivered us to our two bedroom apartment in Antibes. There we were greeted by Bev, the lovely woman who takes care of the apartment. She gave us a good tour so we would feel at home and know where everything was. Because it was Sunday and the stores were closed Bev had picked up some provisions for us, including a lovely bottle of bubbly, so we didn't want for anything. Altogether we were greeted with warmth and felt very very positive about our stay here.

The first week flew by. My sister Cec and her husband Bill arrived midweek and by then we felt like tour guides, showing them where to buy their bus passes and where to shop etc.

The weather has been mild, sometimes a little windy and some days it rains for part of the day otherwise it is sunny most of the time. Not hard to get used to. We lunched outside one day at a sidewalk cafe and it got so warm that some of the customers insisted they put up the canapes.
